McLaren Woking, UK
At McLaren Racing, we pride ourselves on engineering excellence and we achieve this by working together and encouraging innovation in an extraordinary, high performance environment. The McLaren CFD and HPC internship programmes give you a unique and challenging opportunity in a motorsport aerodynamics department. As an intern in the CFD Methodology or HPC teams, you will be involved in the following: Development, evaluation and optimisation of CFD HPC software Application of big data analytics, machine learning techniques to the aerodynamic design of the F1 car Have access to and gain experience in a very diverse onsite HPC infrastructure, including HPC clusters, large shared memory machines, VDI, high performance storage and network solutions Gain hands on industrial experience on Linux and/or object oriented programming languages CFD Interns will also have an opportunity to work on projects providing CFD support to non-aero departments. Working closely with the aerodynamicists, CFD R&D engineers, HPC systems engineers, HPC Application engineers and software developers you will have an opportunity to learn practical aspects of motorsport aerodynamic design and HPC used in a cutting edge technology environment. You'll be studying towards engineering, computing science or related degrees, and are in your second year onwards. You'll need to be unfazed by a challenge, and able to provide solutions and improvements under pressure. You have a proactive and logical approach and an appetite to learn, as well as share your knowledge with the team. After all, that's what a high performance team is based upon. The programme duration will be between 3 and 6 months, and starting dates are flexible depending on the candidate. If you have the drive, the grit and the enthusiasm, apply now!
