Additional info About the Role… The Data protection officer will form part of a newly expanded Digital & Technology Security Team. The team has 5 key functions - Information Security, Architecture, Information Governance, Data Protection and Records Management at Wellcome. Joining this professional and future focused team, you will be the Data Protection Officer for the organisation. The Data Protection Officer is responsible for promoting monitoring and promoting compliance with, and acting as, the primary source for expert advice & guidance about GDPR and Data Protection law. You’ll be a main point of contact for Data Protection, working with colleagues from all divisions including senior stakeholders. You will provide a single point of contact supporting ongoing activities across Wellcome with regards to compliance and monitoring. Influencing leadership and/or management experience to empower staff to carry out their duties in accordance with the law. What we are looking for in you…. With an eye towards the future, you'll be a self-starter, adaptable to an ever-changing landscape bold in seizing opportunities and a passionate advocate of data protection principles. Leading on a variety of projects, you will work with teams to monitor GDPR/Data Protection compliance, creating safe and secure environments and service to support us in being the best we can be. The successful candidate will need to be degree level educated in an information management related discipline or equivalent experience. We are looking for someone with significant experience in privacy and security risk assessment and best practice mitigation, including significant hands-on experience in privacy assessments, privacy certifications and information security standards and certifications. It is really important that you are able to demonstrate technical and organisational measures and controls required to support data security using information technology systems to ensure that we remain secure and compliant at Wellcome.
