About this role

Applications are invited for two positions of Research Fellow in Cyber Security to work in the School of Computing and Creative Technologies located in the College of Art, Technology and Environment at the University of the West of England, Bristol.
The two positions are designated as research-intensive for a fixed-term period of two years, where you would be an active member of the Computer Science Research Centre (CSRC) where the majority of research activity of the School is coordinated. Our core themes are Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Smart Cities, Data Science and Expressive Computer Interactions. You will be actively involved in research activities led by Primary Investigators within the centre, aligning to the themes of Cyber Security, and recognising that there is significant overlap into the other research themes, such as AI and Data Science, that may align to the candidate skill set. In addition, you will be encouraged to support research funding applications and high-quality publications, working collaboratively with team members whilst also having opportunity to grow your own independent research profile. You may also have opportunity to be involved in some teaching within the School in the interest of developing your academic experience, although your primary role will be research-based. You will also have the opportunity to work with our PhD community that contribute a key part of our industrial research collaboration, with many working in collaboration with our industry partners from defence, aerospace, and telecommunications sectors as part of our Partnership PhD scheme.
UWE is recognised by the National Cyber Security Centre as a Gold Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Education (ACE-CSE) that brings together academics from across the University to address multi-disciplinary challenges within the scope of Cyber Security.

About you
We are seeking an exceptional and ambitious individual with a strong track record of research, evidenced by a PhD in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a relevant subject area, along with a growing track record of high-quality publications.
You will have excellent technical capability, including programming skills and experience of developing prototype research software, with research outputs in cyber security, and potentially in other areas such as artificial intelligence and data science. You will be expected to work with Research Centres across the University to create research that crosses discipline boundaries and contribute towards technical development as well as research capability. For example, we currently work with research teams at UWE in the Bristol Robotics Laboratory, Engineering, Bristol Business School, Criminology and Health.
We are committed to meaningful improvement and change in terms of inclusion and accessibility. Diversity enhances research, and we welcome applications from those who will bring balance to our team, including those from communities who experience racism, sexism, ableism or any other barriers.
This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed.
