Summary
The Head of UK Data & Analytics in the London Branch will be responsible for leading the data strategy and execution within BBVA’s Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) & Commercial Client Solution (CCS) divisions in the UK.
This role will be the primary point of contact for local data-related demands, ensuring alignment with global data initiatives while addressing regional regulatory, business, and operational requirements. The successful candidate will lead data and analytics initiatives that enhance business decision-making, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance through innovative data solutions.
At the same time, we expect the candidate to be connected to the local ecosystem of innovation in the data and AI arena, promoting the network with our peers, Fintech start-ups, and other stakeholders, therefore fostering innovation within BBVA.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary liaison between the London Branch and the Global Data team for CCS, CIB & Sustainability, ensuring effective communication and project execution.
Work closely with CIB & CCS business leaders, IT, and transformation teams to support data-driven decision-making.
Collaborate with front-office teams, risk, and finance to design data-driven solutions tailored to CIB & CCS’s needs.
Ensure data governance best practices, data quality, and compliance with UK and European regulatory standards.
Identify and prioritize advanced analytics projects that drive business value for CIB & CCS teams based in London to leverage AI/ML models, data science, and BI tools to generate insights supporting investment decisions, risk management, and client engagement.
Ultimate responsible for Data & AI pipeline execution for UK businesses & support units, conducting business case analysis and follow up on the effective use and impact of the delivered analytical assets.
Ensure effective transformation by adopting new Ways of Working, leveraging quality data, AI insights and GEN AI adoption for improved productivity and creativity.
15+ years of experience in Data, IT, or transformation-related roles, preferably within financial services.
Academic background in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics or related fields.
Consultancy experience to be valuable
Enthusiasm for using data to solve business problems.
Good communication and presentation skills, storytelling based on data.
Proactive and constructive attitude and team player, and to create a good working environment.
Fluent in English and Spanish
Data / IT project management experience is desirable.
