Machine Learning Engineer

McLaren Racing has one single mission: To win Grands Prix and World Championships.  To design, build and operate a Formula One car at race-winning levels requires focus, ambition, imagination, dedication and attention to detail.

We're looking for an exceptional data scientist to help us take our bespoke data analysis and software applications to the next level. You'll need an obvious passion for analytics and a significant interest in new technologies. You could be exploring and visualizing vast data sets in MATLAB, Python or D3; building a data-driven model using machine learning; or modelling uncertainty in a process using Bayesian techniques. The role will be involved in all stages of the development life cycle from initial analysis to deployment, so you'll need to be able to elicit requirements and see them through to delivery using best practice agile techniques.

• You have demonstrable expertise in the particular field of machine learning. You understand how to write clean, maintainable code
• You recognise the importance of continuous learning and sharing that knowledge with others

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

• Strong academic background with MSc or PhD in relevant discipline
• Proven mathematical knowledge and research capability; understanding of machine learning, deep learning, statistics,
• Relevant post-doctoral or industrial development experience in delivering data-driven projects using programming tools such as Python, R, MATLAB
• Experience in handling large amounts of data in a high throughput environment
• High competency in written and oral English language

Desirable

• MSc or PhD in relevant discipline
• Experience working with agile methodologies
• Previous experience developing data analysis/visualisation applications
