Job Description

Working in a cross-functional team you will be responsible for creating and maintaining data and reports on Ocado’s cutting-edge storage and picking systems, including our robotic swarm system. The Ocado environment is Agile and fast-paced and you will see your work being used to investigate complex issues, commission new systems and enhance performance.

What we'd like you to do

  • Create and maintain derived data (e.g. aggregations or transforming event streams into object state)
  • Publish and maintain reports and visualisations (using Tableau and other tools) to provide insight into system behaviour and performance
  • Carry out statistical analysis and develop machine learning solutions
  • Assist Data Scientists with productionizing machine learning models
  • Liaise with developers and other analysts to ensure data is sourced and used appropriately
  • Interact with other developers, product owners, analysts and data scientists
  • Deal with enquiries about reports, data and processes
  • Carry out ad-hoc analysis
  • Keep up to date with trends and best practice

Experience we'd like to see

  • 2:1 or higher degree in Computer Science, Maths, Physics, Engineering or similar highly numerate subject
  • Experience in a similar role of handling, analysing and reporting on large-scale production datasets
  • Highly advanced SQL skills and an understanding of RDBMS and NoSQL data stores
  • Passion for creating clear, accurate reports using BI tools like Tableau, Crystal Reports or Jasper
  • Confidence and presentation skills to explain data and analysis to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Ability to apply and reason with basic statistics
  • Flexible in approach with the ability to learn fast

Bonus points for...

  • Programming experience, preferably in Python, Java or Scala
  • Experience using BigQuery or other Google Cloud Platform components
