Job Description

Welcome! We’re Attest: a Consumer Growth Platform. We’re on a mission to bring every business closer to consumers, and empower them with the insights that drive predictable and repeatable growth; enabling them to create and deliver better, more useful services, products and experiences for communities worldwide.

We’re spearheaded by a bunch of awesome individuals, and our guess is that you’re pretty awesome, too. We’re ultra-proud of the inclusive company we’ve built to date. Attest is not just an exciting place to work alongside great people, but a feeling – one of belonging and adventure. We’re delighted that you’ve taken the first step to becoming an Attester by expressing an interest in who we are and what we do.

About the Data Science and Technology teamData Scientists and Engineers join us for the technical challenges we overcome and stay for the incredible culture we create and grow, from organising and talking at meetups such as the quarterly MancML (organised by our Head of Data Science) and the monthly 'London Microservices Meetup' (hosted and set up by our very own Technical Director) to contributing regularly to open source software (we're lucky to have a core contributor to Vue.js in our ranks).
The Data Science team sits within the Technology Team and is currently made up of 3 data scientists but growing fast. We work in cross-functional squads, involving both engineering, design and product and split our time between accomplishing squad goals and core data science research and infrastructure projects.
Our aim as a team is to research, develop and implement novel techniques to enable our clients to (1) obtain higher quality data through better designed surveys and quality checks and (2) derive higher quality insights automatically from their survey results as well as from our large database of historical surveys. To achieve this we work with a number of techniques within data science and machine learning but, in particular, focus on language modelling, unsupervised data mining techniques, outlier detection and knowledge graph modelling.
We have worked very hard to build our state-of-the-art machine learning infrastructure which enables us to easily pull data, train and deploy our models at scale by the click of a button - without repetitive and unnecessary data plumbing and infrastructure work. This allows our data scientists to focus on building new capabilities without dealing with data or deployment issues.
We use a variety of technologies but primarily work with Python, Numpy, PyTorch, Scikit-learn and similar libraries.
About the roleWe’re looking for a Data Scientist to join our growing Data Science team. As a junior you will be directly mentored by our highly experienced senior data scientists.
Once you have found your feet at Attest, you will be attached to a functional squad. In this squad you will work towards solving a specific business objective alongside a varied team of software engineers, designers, product managers and business stakeholders and will be responsible for planning and implementing needed data science functionality. The features you help build will be used by our clients every day!
At the same time, you will also be working alongside your fellow data scientists on data science specific initiatives, like researching new and improved models and techniques and developing and enhancing our infrastructure.
You will also play a critical role in the expansion and evolution of the Data Science team; from helping with recruiting top-tier talent to training, coaching and up-skilling other members of the Technology team.
What you’ll bring to AttestA strong understanding of the mathematical underpinnings of statistics and modern machine learning techniques.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly communicate your ideas to peers as well as the wider business.Experience and proficiency with a programming language like Python or R, and associated libraries, e.g. scikit-learn, pytorch, tensorflow and other libraries for statistical modelling and machine learning.Experience with handling large scale datasets, data preprocessing and transformation and database interactions
Nice to havesSome of the following would be a big plus:
Experience with a second programming language, like Java or C++.Good understanding of general Software Engineering principles.Experience with Language Modelling. What we’ll offer in return
