Why you’re with us

Industrial placement students play a big part in what we do in the Engineering team and this year we are looking for two interns to work in development and QA roles across the team. You will work alongside experienced engineers producing and testing code that will be used by hundreds of our customers on a daily basis. A significant number of our previous interns have returned to work with us following their final year at University.

As a Software Engineer Intern, you will be developing components of the Opsview Monitor product that directly interface and integrate with a broad range of technologies that we monitor.

You’ll get to

  • Show initiative, ability and a desire to understand the Opsview business
  • Demonstrate your knowledge and experience of software development, and will relish the opportunity to work with the latest technology
  • Work in feature-driven Agile teams
  • Help us to build and test new features into our software

You’ll have…

  • Some knowledge and experience of software development either through coursework or previous work placements
  • Experience using Linux/UNIX at the command line
  • Experience of using at least one programming language, such as C, C++, Python, Perl, or Javascript
  • Experience with using Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills with good written and verbal English

… and maybe you

  • Have a basic understanding of TCP/IP networking
  • Use and configure the LAMP or MEAN stacks
  • Have knowledge of Agile methodologies for software development
  • Have experience with version control services such as Github or Bitbucket

We agree on this

Both individual and team contributions are really important. So is communication. Your team will celebrate your successes and help remove your blockers. You’ll do the same for others. We're fostering an open culture where your team is more than Engineering; here, your team is Opsview.

You take pride and satisfaction in knowing each iteration of the work you do delivers innovation, solutions, success, and opportunity. You learn from what you deliver. Being proud of the work you do and the collaborations you have with others is a fulfilling thing for you. Opsview delivers, so should you.

It should be important to you that the ideas and the creative works generated by you and your teammates are used and appreciated by a growing customer base. Amazing concepts should be thoughtful and highly desired by the customers that use them. All of Opsview is customer-centric, including you.

People at Opsview are naturally creative, curious to try new things and push the status quo. Sometimes, things just need to get done and other times, every notion of what, why and how should be questioned. You're comfortable with both. Opsview is doing things differently. Your differences will make us a better, stronger, more capable team.

It’s really simple at Opsview. We want you to excel and have fun doing it!
