Job Description

We're looking for a Data Analyst to join our team in London.

You’ll have a demonstrable understanding of Retail or eCommerce consumer products and behaviour and quantitative analysis that they can combine to underpin and enhance the work of the trend forecasting editorial team.

You will work closely with our Content teams to analyse WGSN’s global datasets and aid in the generation of breakthrough insight for our customers. Including among other tasks; data cleansing, analysis and visualisation of ecommerce, survey or any other related data set.

This position has been created as part of the expansion of the data team and career progression is linked to the acquisition and development of an in-depth technical knowledge within the area of expertise, as well as project management and influencing skills.

As part of our Content function, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide high quality and accurate analysis for WGSN‘s content based on an understanding of retail, the operations of its key players, the trading calendar and fashion trends
  • Work as part of a team to ensure reports are produced to a high standard, within allotted deadlines, with data integrity at the core
  • Tackle the challenge of extracting business intelligence from large data sets. Ability to see beyond the numbers
  • Uses data strategically. Asks the right questions and uses sophisticated ways to interrogate the data to uncover high value insights
  • Proactively suggest ways to improve processes and visualisation that give insightful views of key business issues and opportunities
  • Able to collaborate across the business, with the content team in region and across territories to ensure consistency of trend messages across the company
  • Is a strong participant and contributor to the creation, sharing and learning culture to provide inspiration and relevant information for the benefit of the global Editorial team’s deliverables
  • Supports client meetings where required and stay abreast of industry news to remain abreast of client’s changing needs and challenges.

Your experience

  • Highly numerate. Degree in a mathematically orientated discipline or relevant experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrable experience in a data analysis role
  • Excellent communicator: verbally and written. Must be able to explain technical concepts and analysis clearly to a wide audience, both technical and non-technical
  • eCommerce knowledge and experience is desirable
  • Working knowledge of SQL
  • Proven analytical and quantitative skills with data visualisation & reporting
  • Experience with visualisation tools such as Tableau
  • Critical thinker and a problem solver. Flexible attitude
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and within a team
  • Understanding of fashion retail and trends
