About the role
We have a rare opportunity for a talented developer to join the Business Intelligence Team on a fixed-term contract until 31st March 2021.
Marie Curie are undergoing a large-scale Digital Transformation in order to modernise our systems. A major part of this transformation is to create a new Enterprise Data Warehouse to bring together all of our data into one place, allowing unified reporting and enhanced insights.
As one of our dedicated team of exceptional developers, you will help us achieve this by supporting the development of our new Data Warehouse as well as the building of business area-specific Data Marts and reporting solutions. You will be using SQL Server 2017 and the latest version of Visual Studio to do this. You will be required to create SSIS packages as well as Power BI and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) in order to build engaging dashboards using our new platform.
We are looking for someone that knows the Microsoft SQL Server stack and has experience with BI and data warehousing. You will be working primarily with the Data Warehouse source so knowledge of Kimball/Inmon schemas would be very useful. Experience of extract, load and transform using SSIS would also be expected.
You will be looking to implement reporting skills using Microsoft Power BI and SSRS. You will want to design dashboards to be engaging, insightful and follow data visualisation best practices.
You are a clear communicator who is very comfortable with face to face interaction and can give clear and concise information to our stakeholders. You will be liaising frequently with the Senior Developer and the Business Analysts. You will need to be comfortable explaining technical jargon to non-technical audiences.
You will be involved in capturing reporting requirements, collaborative coding and end-user testing. You will be comfortable participating in Agile SCRUM ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, fortnightly planning and sprint reviews.
Knowledge and experience of source control (e.g. Team Foundation Server) would be desirable as would an understanding of DevOps principles.
You will thrive in an agile, collaborative environment and have the confidence to propose and discuss solution designs with the team.
You will be working with sensitive data so you must have a complete understanding of GDPR and ideally NHS Data Governance standards.
If you care about how we can transform the organisation through better use of data, we would love to hear from you.
Every day of your life matters – from the first to the last. When you work for Marie Curie, you understand that better than ever. We’re a passionate, committed and diverse team of more than 4,400 staff and 12,000 volunteers, here for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. We offer expert care, guidance and support, to help them get the most from the time they have left.
Everyone knows our daffodil, but it’s our warmth, creativity and care that touch lives. Here, we take the time to really get to know the people we care for and those who love them. And we do whatever it takes to give them the final days and hours they deserve.
