Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Business Development Director to play a pivotal role driving the acquisition of services business across many established areas of service capability, taking a full commercial management role throughout the life-cycle of these large accounts as well as focusing on new business opportunities. This is a quota carrying role for an experienced leader in Artificial Intelligence to drive pipeline. The successful candidate will capitalise on their rounded experience in IT consulting sales and delivery alongside our clients’ established reputation, to compete for medium to large (£2.5m - £5m) IT Services engagements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the CTO to develop the ‘go to market’ strategy of the new AI practice and take responsibility for all sales & marketing related activities
  • Develop AI business with new customers particularly in the commercial sectors, as well as in existing accounts
  • Assist the team in defining compelling AI offerings to take to market
  • Build awareness of existing AI capability among our customer base & partners; look for early sales wins to build credibility internally & externally
  • Identify early adopters across the existing customer base
  • Promote an award-winning AI / Fraud Detection project (recent winner of the UK AI Public Sector Project of the Year) and identify other stories and campaigns to lead into the base
  • Engage with our sales and account teams to build awareness, agree sales model and key sales messages
  • Contribute to key account planning sessions to ensure AI capability is well promoted and positioned for success
  • Develop key commercial partnerships in the area of AI including global tech partners Microsoft and AWS but also emerging disrupters and influencers
  • Manage and report on progress against clear financial targets including revenue, sales (SOV) and pipeline

Background Experience:

You will be an experienced IT services sales professional with an established network and reputation in the emerging Artificial Intelligence sector. Your experience will allow you to appropriately navigate the procurement cycle, successfully establishing reputation, qualifying, pursuing and tendering for medium to large scale IT Services engagements. It is likely that your background will be in systems integration with a specific focus towards advanced enterprise data analytics, predictive analytics, data science and machine learning.

Skills and experiences will include:

  • Drive and capability to lead sales delivery and be accountable for delivering against an annuity / services revenue target circa £5m
  • Demonstrable commercial experience in Artificial Intelligence solutions and services sales
  • Strong commercial awareness and the ability to manage the negotiation of complex IT services / solutions engagements, typically seeking to establish a small footprint to demonstrate capability through proof of concept as a foundation from which to grow
  • Deep understanding of the technology trends and market dynamics affecting the global Artificial Intelligence industry
  • A proven background in new business development, sales management and pipeline conversion gained with an established IT Systems Integration / IT Solutions environment
  • Intimacy with the commercial delivery of IT services business, preferably having come from a career background in software engineering and project management
  • Deep appreciation / for the opportunities afforded by the emergence of Artificial Intelligence and its practical application to commercially viable client solutions
  • Exceptional communication skills including comfort presenting at CxO level and the ability to lead the development of marketing collateral and bid content

  • Salary Offered: to £120k (base) + Executive Benefits and Bonus up to 60% for on target performance
