Senior Data Analyst, International Media Analytics - Oxford, UK
ABOUT THIS JOB
This is a senior role within a small, highly flexible and innovative analytics team that is seen as a key “growth lever” for the International Media business.
The successful candidate will be accountable for leading a variety of Media Analytics projects and developments working with some of the biggest players in the global online and media industries.
In this position you will work closely with international colleagues to ideate, create and syndicate innovative solutions that deliver against aggressive Media Analytics revenue growth.
The role involves the pragmatic use of various numerical and statistical techniques to manipulate, integrate, analyse and report in-house and 3rd party data sources - creating unified analyses that drive consumer insight and deliver “One Media Truth”.
This role is critical in helping our clients to plan, activate and measure their total media spend and better understand consumer reach, resonance and reaction.
Conduct data analyses using Python, PySpark, SQL and Nielsen proprietary methodologies and tools.
Work closely and creatively with commercial teams to clearly understand client needs and translate them into technical analysis specifications.
Engage with Media Analytics colleagues and data scientists to develop robust analyses that accurately represent media truth and provide client value.
Provide expert advice on the appropriate use and limitations of data sets and methodologies in addressing client issues.
Provide mentoring, training and support for data analysts in the delivery of integrated datasets and analysis.
Ensure all work is documented, supported and delivered to agreed quality and service standards.
Support project needs in a timely and efficient manner, demonstrating pragmatism and a sense of urgency, tenacity and commitment to quality.
Act as a data and analysis expert and provide leadership in the adoption of new technologies.
Engage cross-functionally across a diverse range of people and teams.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOU
Highly numerate with a passion to intimately understand and get “hands-on” with large and complex data sets.
A track record in showing initiative, creativity and integrity in delivering quality results that provide real value and insight.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate complex statistical concepts and results in simple terms.
Experience of managing multiple projects and conflicting priorities and addressing problems quickly and effectively.
Evidence of being able to engage with and motivate colleagues to deliver projects to agreed timelines and quality standards.
Working knowledge of the practical application of technology to automate and streamline work processes.
Bachelor's / Post-graduate degree (or equivalent) with a strong statistical, mathematical and/or computing element.
Strong technical proficiency in Python, PySpark, SQL and similar programming languages.
Experience of analysing and manipulating large datasets in a cloud-based computing environment.
Working knowledge of data integration (fusion) techniques and the practical application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning an advantage.
Proficiency in working with spreadsheets, documents and presentation software.
