Job Description

The AXA Advanced Claims Analytics team is delivering the latest in Machine Learning on Microsoft's Azure cloud platform. Joining Data Engineering is an opportunity to develop your Python skills in the world of Apache Spark, Data Bricks & Big Data on Azure & AWS.

 We are building a new Analytics team, so you’ll have a real opportunity to shape the way AXA uses its new Data Lake. You will play a key part in defining and establishing data pipelines.

 As a Big Data Engineer you will be ingesting data from a variety of data sources from relational databases to unstructured data such as images or HTML documents. We will then use big data tools such as Apache Spark & Data Bricks on Azure to process, clean & enhance this data to produce reliable feature sets for our Data Science teams to train & build Machine Learning models.

 There will be opportunities to work closely with Data Science teams & develop Machine Learning skills & experience. This is a new function at AXA on a new platform with opportunities to shape the way we use big data technologies & Azure\AWS Cloud Services to deliver business value.

 We are looking for an experienced Python developer to work on a variety of technical Data Engineering tasks, essential skills\experience are:

  • Multi-year real world Python coding experience
  • Sound knowledge & demonstrable experience of best practice Python Software Engineering.
  • Enthusiasm & a passion for coding in Python & producing high quality, elegant code.
  • An understanding & interest in big data & data engineering

 

 What you’ll need

 The following would be desirable in this role:

  • Experience building and optimizing data ingestion and processing pipelines
  • Relational Database\SQL experience or NoSQL Database experience.
  • Experience in Big Data tools - Spark, Hadoop, Data Bricks
  • Public Cloud experience - Azure, AWS, Google Cloud etc..
