Business Intelligence Technical Expert

Here at Autoglass®, the Business Intelligence Technical Expert’s role is to work with the BI Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and provide technical support to building reporting and analytical solutions.

As a Technical Expert, you should exhibit a deep understanding of data extraction, data modelling, data transformation and data visualisation. You'll be expected to have the ability to build mathematical logic and to problem solve in order to support BI SME’s delivery of insight.

You'll also be able to work with the Information Architect to support the build of one data model, ensuring that as the model evolves, the changes and improvements are accommodated across all data sets.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support BI SME’s with building more complex data models or logic and mathematical problems into reporting solutions

  • Ensure the integrity of data models developed by the SME’s, conducting test scenarios as necessary

  • Assist all BI SME’s with any unplanned, urgent or complex requirements that need advanced technical skills

  • Work with BI SME’s to understand where manual pain points exist and deliver automated, more advanced analytical solutions

  • Carry out peer reviews (database tuning, ETL improvements and query performance) of other BI SME’s development work

  • Manage relationship with internal IT/ external vendors to monitor capacity usage and ensure it is aligned to the future business requirements

  • Ensure standards are applied across development of SQL, ETL and Visualisations with regards to recommendations on best practice design, look and feel

  • Produce technical documentation on solutions developed within the BI landscape

  • Develop in-depth knowledge of any new technologies that are purchased and deployed within the BI team

  • Support BI SME’s to build more complex solutions that move the team from historic reporting to predictive analysis

  • Work with the Information Architect to ensure data, visualisations and delivery is aligned across the entire data model

  • Work with either internal IT or external vendor to deliver a data warehousing/data lake solution fit for the future requirements of the business

  • Microsoft Power BI is an agile tool going through weekly and monthly iterative changes. You will be expected to stay abreast of technology changes and work with the Information Architect to adapt business models to ensure the latest designs being used for delivering insight across the business.
