You’ll be joining Twinkl’s analytics network of data analysts and scientists during an exciting period of growth. Partnering closely with both the Head of Data and the Head of International Growth, you will be at the forefront of how data on our substantial international user base is utilised at Twinkl; tasked with ensuring that we derive the maximum value possible from our rich and varied datasets.

Taking ownership of our international reporting dashboards, you’ll pull together key metrics on sales and customer behaviour in order to ensure that the team have the insights that they need to make strong, data-driven decisions. You will also dive deeper than data reporting, turning data into action by making regular recommendations for improvements. This will involve running self-directed projects to investigate trends and identify creative solutions to a variety of business challenges.

Your day to day will involve regular use of Excel/Google Sheets and SQL, the visualisation tool Tableau, and Jira for project management. Don’t worry if you haven’t used all of these technologies before, we’re great at providing training!

Ongoing projects:

  • Use the data to automatically identify (and action) growth opportunities in International markets.
  • Personalise website content (search results, resource recommendations, etc) in International countries to the same extent as we currently do in UK markets.

To succeed in the role, you will:

  • Have a strong analytical mindset and relentless attention to detail.
  • Have the ability to see projects through from conception to delivery, bringing actionable insight to bear.
  • Be an excellent communicator with strong presentation skills.
  • Have experience and/or a keen interest in learning SQL and Tableau.
  • Have an interest in working with sales/customer data.

In this role, you will learn:

  • How to compose complex SQL queries, pulling the information you need from our huge subscription data sets.
  • Data visualisation with Tableau.
  • Advanced and highly valued analytic techniques (e.g. machine learning, big data analysis).
  • Stakeholder management - you’ll be working closely with senior leaders, providing them with a single source of truth and partnering with them on a data-led project.

You’ll work with:

  • George Mulroy (Head of Data) - Teacher turned data scientist, George graduated from Sheffield Universities Data Science Masters and has been at Twinkl ever since. He oversees data and analytics at Twinkl, and is particularly interested in how we use customer behaviour to make website improvements.
  • Neil Cleverly (Head of International Growth) and the country manager team - Neil and the team work tirelessly to help those who teach outside of the UK market.
  • The Data Team - Five data analysts and five data scientists who meet weekly to discuss all things data.

We're interested in anyone who meets one, or a combination of the following:

  • Qualifications: Undergraduate or Masters degree in a quantitative field (eg. data science, maths, physics), or, an alternative qualification or apprenticeship with a data focus.
  • Experience: 1+ years employed in a role with an analytical focus. This could be a formal “data analyst” position, a role with regular intermediate/advanced excel/SQL use or a managerial position with complex KPI reporting.

In return for everything you can bring, we can offer you an exciting role in a fast-growing and dynamic business, with plenty of career opportunities.
