Healx is a fast growing Cambridge, UK startup combining computational methods and drug discovery expertise to identify existing drugs that may treat rare diseases, enabling treatments to be found at a fraction of the time and cost of traditional drug discovery. There are over 7,000 rare diseases that affect an estimated 350 million people worldwide, most of which lack effective treatment. Working closely with patient groups and charities to understand clinical unmet need we have a growing portfolio of treatments derived from our AI platform which are now moving into clinical evaluation. We have recently announced raising $56M Series B investment that will allow us to take more drug programs into clinical trials and grow our team from 40 talented scientists and engineers to 80 . Our goal is having a patient impact at scale through technology.
As a Data Engineer at Healx you will be joining a cross-disciplinary team of highly-skilled computational biologists, biocurators, machine learning data scientists, engineers and pharmacologists who are passionate about meeting urgent unmet medical need through AI-powered drug discovery. You will be building an infrastructure to aggregate, annotate and serve a variety of scientific data in support of our AI powered discovery process.
What you will be doing:
Working with engineers in a positive, collaborative environment to understand technical requirements
Building a data environment to support acquisition and integration of data
Supporting Healx AI drug discovery efforts by ensuring data sources are consistent, up to date and available
We'd love to hear from you if you are:
A graduate in a relevant informatics, mathematical, engineering or scientific discipline or have equivalent experience
Experienced in life sciences / pharmaceutical sector and working with biological data
Experienced Python programmer, familiar with relational and/or NoSQL databases
Experience of Cloud computing
Awareness of FAIR principles
An interest in Master Data Management and other methods
Previous experience of evaluating and introducing new technology
Have worked with ontological data for integration
Ability to mentor and guide other team members in an agile environment
