This role sits within our Marketing Business Unit at a Band 5 level reporting to the Head of Commercial Strategy


Job Description

As a Commercial Strategy Manager, who excels in thinking and working with conceptual ideas, you will be responsible for;

Strategy Development Support

  • Provide support during strategy reviews; provide research and benchmarking analyses in processes to identifying trends and new opportunities for Marketing BU and commodities
  • Provide support in processes to delivering strategic imperatives, e.g. refining brand value proposition, maintaining pipeline of breakthrough ideas for Marketing BU
  • Initiate researches according to strategic themes, interpret potential implications to Anglo American and Marketing BU, propose action plans
  • Build relationship with commodity teams, generate commercial insight and identify opportunities to support commodities in delivering their commercial priorities

Strategic Project Support

  • Generation of commercial insight and identify growth / improvement opportunities: undertake complex quantitative and qualitative analyses that facilitate the assessment of established commercial approaches and initiatives
  • Lead and/or join the ideation sessions, build the hypothesis and identify ways to validate by working together with the team

Qualifications

  • Superb academic credentials in Business, Economics or similar disciplines, ideally master degree

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • a reasonable amount of experience in a strategy capacity within a large organisation and / or as an advisor from consulting group
  • Solid experience in business planning, business modelling, desktop/external researches, forecasting and analysis
  • Ability to think longer-term and creatively; good in providing interpretive or predictive insights and competent across the range of tools and frameworks of strategic and financial analysis
  • Comfortable with making logical hypothesis by limited information and capable to validate the assumptions by effective means
  • Excellent compelling report writing, and seasoned presentation skills tailored to the specific needs and requirements of the audience
