Your Impact:

Our Water and Environment Business Unit provides a focus for advising our clients on Coastal, River Engineering and Flood Risk Management solutions including flood defence structures, weirs, gates, sluices, flood storage reservoirs, natural flood management, habitat creation, hydrometric gauging facilities and fish passes. Our integrated Water Environment team comprises in excess of 400 staff based in the UK and Europe, but with reach into the Middle East, Australasia and America.

To meet our ambitious strategy for growth, we are seeking enthusiastic and dynamic individuals who want to grow their own careers delivering challenging projects. You will join an established and thriving maritime team working on projects that make a difference to coastal communities and the environment.

Working predominantly in numerical modelling of coastal problems you will be at the forefront of developing new techniques to couple CFD models with machine learning in order. An example of this will be to couple CFD analysis of wave overtopping of coastal structures with machine learning techniques to produce an emulator that can then be run as part of a flood forecasting system.

You may also have the chance to assist in the delivery of our projects working as part of an integrated and forward thinking team with the opportunity to learn from and assist key specialists. We will provide you with the responsibilities, activities and support you need to take your career to the next level

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • A Degree in coastal engineering, applied mathematics or closely related physical sciences.
  • Experience using Matlab (or similar tool), GIS software (ArcGIS or MapInfo) and other computing languages such as R or Python is advantageous.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate confidently and effectively with colleagues and clients
  • A genuine interest in, and passion for, the coastal engineering sector, and modelling solutions.
  • Be highly motivated and proactive, with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to get UK security clearance to the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS).
