Information Advantage and Mission Systems.

QinetiQ provides Subject Matter Expertise in support of the development and provision of Information Advantage and the new and upgraded Mission Systems’ capabilities designed to provide that information. Working primarily within the Air and Joint C2 domains of Defence, but expanding to provide solutions pan-domain, we are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated people, across all levels of experience, to provide solutions within Information Advantage, Mission Systems and Sensor to Effect and that will ensure the UK’s capability both now and in the future.

QinetiQ is seeking a Mission Systems Specialist Consultant to work within our Information Advantage and Mission Systems capability areas. Specifically, we are looking for a Mission Data (MD) Champion who can act as QinetiQ’s MD Ambassador in both the strategic and delivery arenas. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a pedigree in the production and application of MD and will be a respected and trusted expert in the MD community. Ideally with an operational background in the production or application of MD, applicants will also have an excellent understanding of Mission Systems processes and the roles of data gathering, processing, assimilation, fusion and information exploitation. There will be opportunities for overseas deployment.

Based primarily at our Lincoln Office, you will be the thought leader and champion in the evolving field of Mission Data for Information Advantage (MD4IA) while also becoming part of an ever-expanding team of Mission Systems experts who influence the way mission systems are designed and operate in an ever more complex environment. Your primary role will be to strategically lead the technical transformation of the cross-industry MD4IA team, assuring organisational evolution of QinetiQ and our partners, whilst also managing programme delivery to enable the success of the proposed systems and structure. You will work in a variety of teams that deliver cutting-edge solutions on advanced platforms and systems. You will be challenged to be creative and innovative in the Mission Systems arena and develop a deep understanding of information and data flow and exploitation.

• The production and application of mission data.
• Current mission data production methods.
• Product/Service innovation.

• Business Model innovation.
• Using a system-of-systems approach or methodology.
• Innovative thinking and novel approaches to analysis techniques.
• Adapting and applying knowledge to unfamiliar domains.
• Development of tools and models to improve efficiency and answer complex problems.

Knowledge of some or all of the following:

• Engineering design and implementation processes and methodologies.
• Intelligence Mission Data
• Transformation management.
• Data fusion and management.
• Machine learning, Neural Networks and Artificial Intelligence.

Person Specification:

• Degree in a science, engineering or maths subject and/or demonstrable and suitable experience.
• UK national (and not dual-national) and willing to undergo government vetting to achieve SC and/or DV as required.
• Innovative self-starter, driven to deliver great results.
• Shows initiative, offers solutions to problems.
• Enthusiastic team player, able to lead and motivate others.
• Quality conscious with strong risk awareness. Able to follow processes and procedures.
