In AMS our role is to ensure our customers gain the maximum advantage from their data. We are involved at all stages of the data lifecycle from the initial gathering & processing stage, through the analysis phase, leading to actionable outputs & advice. Our aims are to ensure: that starting data is of the highest quality; that it is quickly and efficiently processed into clear, meaningful information; that we extract deeper insight from it; and that we provide robust, data-led advice and take sound, evidence-based actions.
We have a strong pedigree in sensor design, data analysis & processing, and data fusion. We are at the cutting edge for designing tools, software and automation techniques that enable the rapid and timely transfer of relevant data and information. We also deal in information exploitation techniques, for real-world use but also in the fields of simulation and the design of synthetic environments. We develop and use numerical and mathematical models for a wide range of engineering and business applications.
The Year in Industry placement is into a team that are looking to develop smarter ways to qualify military equipment. Techniques being explored are model based system engineering and the use of digital twins, where a representative model of a piece of equipment is used to reduce the number of real world tests required. The summer placement student will work closely with the technical area leader to develop and test new algorithms and data analytic tools and apply these to real world tests.

Who we are looking for:
Achieved or on track to achieve a minimum of 2.1 in a relevant degree
A person with a strong maths background and an interest in engineering.
The role will involve analysis of spreadsheets and large databases, there could be an element of software development using Python and use of cloud based services.
Any experience of Matlab and/or Simulink C would be a bonus
