Petrochemicals Analyst

We have an outstanding opportunity for an analyst to join our team focused on the petrochemicals industry. This role will be central to existing services and the development of an exciting new suite of products. It provides an excellent opportunity to help deliver our company’s strategy and vision. This role will enable someone with the skills and capacity to develop expertise in a dynamic and evolving sector.

There will be a strong research element to the role, with data gathering and relationship building within the industry expected. A high level of internal collaboration will be required with colleagues around the world and across different functions.

Strong data handling, analytical and communication skills will be required. Attention to detail, creativity and initiative will be highly valued.

This role would suit an individual with a relevant academic background and ideally meaningful experience in petrochemicals or a related commodity market. The role will involve exposure to and collaboration with, our global team of industry experts and quantitative analysts.

Main accountabilities/responsibilities

  • Maintain and deliver analytical insight on commodity petrochemical and polymer markets
  • Play a proactive role in identifying and executing opportunities for improving existing content, data-sets, industry models and processes
  • Develop tools and in-house capability on forecasting industry fundamentals
  • Mentor our global team as a reference point for new techniques and best practice
  • Effective maintenance and regular updating of key data sets
  • Publish key findings, forecasts and analysis dependent on relevant schedules
  • Engage with the industry and clients through event/conference attendance, client visits and other marketing activities
  • Integrate and add further detail to our coverage of our plastic recycling data sets

Key skills required

  • Data analysis experience
  • Degree or equivalent experience, in a quantitative field (Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred)
  • Working knowledge of SQL and Python and experience applying these to solving analytical problems would be advantageous
  • Analytical, pro-active critical thinker
  • Eye for detail, well-organised and able to meet deadlines and work to a high standard on multiple assignments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication in English and an aptitude for building contacts and networks
  • Knowledge of the polyester industry would be advantageous
