Job Description

The Advanced Analytics and Artificial Intelligence (DMZ) department is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer to be based at either our Filton (Bristol) or Broughton in North Wales sites. The department is a central group of data scientists, software engineers and product managers with a mission to apply AI/ML technologies to the most valuable and challenging analytics projects across a variety of different Airbus business areas, from customer services, engineering, HR, Finance to manufacturing. Joining DMZ, you will work closely with a multi-national team of AI specialists, IT specialists, products and platform managers to deliver AI services covering AI/ML technical pillars in Airbus including computer vision, time series anomaly detection, knowledge extraction, decision making and hybrid modeling.

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will be a key contributor in defining best practices and implementing AI/ML in production across a variety of different products, relying on all Airbus backbones (PCP, Skywise, SAP…) You will engage in the AI communities to mentor and coach the data scientists and advanced analysts in the business to follow MLOps and DataOps best practices. Finally, being based in the UK for DMZ, you will also be the local relay of our team for all analytics matters.

The key role responsibilities include:

  • Work with domain experts, data scientists and AI specialists to accelerate ML/AI into production.
    • Developing ML Systems considering all aspects of the ML lifecycle including model training, model deployment, monitoring and validation
    • Lead architecture discussions on integration of AI/ML in existing IM applications
    • Working as part of an Agile team
  • Communicating with project stakeholders to understand their data science and IT needs, report on project progress & results and offer recommendations & guidance
  • Support the development of the broader analytics community through:
    • Sharing expertise and best practices on using machine learning and AI in production
    • Software engineering best practices
  • Act as the team relay in UK

Technical skills:

Essential Requirements:

  • Python Software Development, including modules for data engineering/machine. learning such as Pandas, Scikit-Learn, Tensorflow and PyTorch.
  • Data Engineering tooling such as Apache Nifi, DVC, Apache Airflow, Argo Workflows or similar
  • MLOps tools including MLFow, Kubeflow, Tensorflow Serving, Seldon Core, AWS SageMaker or similar
  • DevOps tools including Git, Jenkins and Docker
  • Experience using cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure and Kubernetes

Desirable:

  • Experience with SQL & NoSQL databases & big data technologies such as Apache Spark.
  • Experience with Feature Store technologies.
