Job Description

The Dyson Institute is building a world class Institute, to develop the Engineering Leaders of the future. We are searching for a talented individual who is passionate about data to join our newly established Operations team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of a Higher Education institute, implementing inventive data processes to enable the Dyson Institute to deliver its ambitions.

You’ll be enthusiastic about using data visualisation software to create engrossing dashboards that deliver on requirements from senior leaders, as well as having experience of analysing varied data sets and using visualisations to communicate findings. You’ll have strong communication skills and understand how to share insights with stakeholders, finding ways to tell compelling narratives and using your initiative to solve problems as they arise.

Responsibilities

As a Junior Data Analyst, you’ll support The Dyson Institute in delivering the data and reporting strategy. You will need to develop strong relationships with the wider Institute team and ensure The Dyson Institute follows best practice with its data at all times.

Delivery

  • Deliver the data strategy and meet reporting expectations as set out by the Senior Data Analyst

  • Work with colleagues within the team to access data stored in a range of systems

  • Analyse and interpret complex data sets to generate reports and business insight for a broad range of purposes

  • Summarise and present data and conclusions, suitable for the understanding of the Dyson Institute Team

  • Work with the cross functional Institute Team to deliver dashboard reporting and visualisations

  • Collaborate with members of the wider Institute Team to deliver accurate submissions for statutory and regulatory returns

  • Monitor and audit data quality

Person Specification

  • Proven data analysis skills and experience using a range of software, including Excel, Power BI, and Tableau

  • Knowledge of SQL

  • Some experience of stakeholder management

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Enthusiasm for using technology to develop dashboards and visualisations that meet customer requirements, improve efficiency and support the development of a compelling narrative or measurement against key metrics.

  • Experience of Higher Education reporting requirements is desirable.
