Summary
The Business Insight Centre sits within our Finance Division and is responsible for supporting the decision making and progress evaluation processes of UKEF to assist it to achieve its business goals and objectives.
This is achieved through a mixture of regular and ad hoc information, report and dashboard management, the creation of bespoke self-service BI solutions and analytics along with close co-operation with the IT development team to enhance and extend our enterprise data warehouse. The goal of the team is to build a Business Insight centre of excellence and continuously enhance and extend UKEF’s ability to support its customers.

In order to address these challenges, we are looking for someone with a good balance of Business analysis and Business intelligence skills who has strong stakeholder management skills and able to gather requirements for BI/MI solutions and catalogue/document user needs.
This role would suit to someone who is passionate to improve existing skills and experience in data analysis and business intelligence. Someone who is proactive in acquiring new skills and knowledge to progress in turning data into actionable insights
As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you should have a proven track record, as a user or developer, of delivering business reports, creating dashboards and analysing existing environment in order to provide effective solutions for improvements in our data capabilities. We are looking for someone to provide knowledge, expertise and support by way of analysis and reporting, ensuring that information is accessible and available for business use.
It is anticipated that the post holder will not simply provide reports and dashboards in response to requirements but will add value to the resolution of business queries and problems through ad-hoc and proactive analysis of the available data.
It is expected that the post holder will interact with all areas of the UKEF. You will gain a good working knowledge of the underlying business processes and systems allowing you to give advice on ways to ensure that data is complete, accurate and timely.

Responsibilities
Main Activities
- Supports the team with production of monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc reporting.
- Advises the business and executives on how BI (processes, practices and technologies) play a critical role in improving business management and optimisation; designs organisation-wide “views” and custom reports.
- Document reporting production catalogues detailing user requirements and report structures.
- Identifying business needs and issues by fostering relationships with key stakeholders across Operations, Risk, Marketing and the Business
- Building and enhancing data visualisation capabilities for MI/BI Solutions. This will require working closely with other members of the Business Insight Centre.
- Assist BIC team in developing tools and processes focused on improving the insight and analytical capabilities of the business (including optimisation of data gathering, data transformation and insights preparation).
- Working with the wider analytics team on data management and governance, collaborating with IT Team, Enterprise and Data Architects to ensure BI Solutions are aligned with overall plans, architecture and solutions.
- Providing design support for the development of business Intelligence and MI Solutions by working on medium to complex and cross-functional IT and Business projects. Provide BI/MI solutions by assisting in further development of MI Capabilities/Services (Reports, Insights, Visualisation or BI Tools) to ensure existing MI/BI capacity is fully utilised..
- Assist the BIC team members with organising MI/BI workstream projects implementing new BI Software tools and systems.
- Where necessary conduct or assist in conducting training sessions to business users to ensure adoption of the new BI tools and/or mastering additional functionality. Provides subject matter expertise for core BI functions.
- Assist the UKEF to understand Data quality issues, verify the collection of data against agreed data quality standards, provides input to the development of information quality metrics (or recommend where necessary), document and track.
- Analyse data and write queries required to produce new and update existing reporting solutions (Cognos and/or Excel based), create Semantic business models for Power BI reports and document the design. Act as a first point of contact with IT Development team if, and when amendments to the underlying data is required.
- In collaboration with IT and other teams, and knowledge of BI/MI techniques to identify opportunities to use cloud-based analytics infrastructure capabilities
- Validate and enhance, where appropriate, detailed data analysis techniques and specifically in the use of data analysis tools.
Qualifications
- Qualified by experience or Degree qualified in any of the quantitative disciplines- such as Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, or Mathematics and Statistics.
