The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research.
About the Group and Function
Technology, Digital, Data & Delivery (TD3) lies at the heart of the Agency and is responsible for delivering an optimised IT infrastructure and maximising the secure use of data to enable the rest of the organisation to deliver world class services. Its centre of excellence is also responsible for delivering a broad portfolio of change initiatives, both to transform the Agency’s legacy technologies and to deliver innovative new solutions, designed around our customers’ needs. TD3 works in a holistic way to combine digital and technology change, project deliver, business process, product management and cultural change to maximise out impact and ensure sustainability.
The Data & Information Governance function is responsible for leading on data and information governance, ensuring that the Agency can access the data it needs when it needs it, including supporting the technology roadmap by providing security and privacy and for leading the management protocols on data, information security and privacy, in order to ensure that the Agency can draw maximum insight from the data it holds.

Job description

Role Purpose
You will design and develop reports and dashboards connecting data from several data sources.
  • Developing analytics over existing and new data sources to provide insight to stakeholders
  • Recognising opportunities to re-use existing data
  • Improving data quality
Key Responsibilities and Results Areas
  • Understand business requirements in BI context and document requirements
  • Design dimensionally modelled data models for reporting
  • Create functional, operational, visually interactive reports and dashboards using Power BI.
  • Write SQL queries to connect data sources
  • Ingest data from a variety of data sources and performing required transformations using Power Query and Data Flows.
  • Automate, publish and schedule Power BI reports
  • Maintain and update Power BI Gateway
  • Create reports using MS BI Stack of tools, such as Data Factory, Data Lake and SQL Server
  • Skilled at performance tuning Power BI dashboards and creating fit for purpose underlying data structures including data transformation / 'data wrangling' skills
  • Communicate with business as well as technical teams
  • Implement row level security on data and productionise
  • Undertake Power BI support, development and troubleshooting as required
  • Deliver user training, assist in training the trainers and create end user documentation and training materials
