While machine-leaning enabled systems have witnessed huge advances in recent years, concerns surrounding their adequacy and safety have also grown, e.g., in the context of high-risk, decision making. Overcoming these challenges requires rigorous software design and development processes that methodically factor in carefully human-in-the-loop where/when required.

The Research Assistant/Associate will be responsible for designing and evaluating new methods and tool for specifying, analysing and adapting such systems with considerations to the correctness, safety and fairnesss of such system.
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of academics and researchers from Aston University, University of Bath, University of Birmingham and Imperial College London.
The successful candidate will carry out a research programme in the areas of software engineering, formal methods and machine learning, undertake research project management and help supervise a multi-disciplinary project team. In addition, the candidate will be expected to submit publications to top-tier conferences and journals in software engineering and artificial intelligence.
