Data Sciences at Quotient Sciences comprises 6 departments (including Statistics) and over 100 staff and provides an expert service in the data management, analysis and reporting of early phase clinical studies.
As a statistician at Quotient, you will be responsible for statistical input into study design (including sample size calculations), generation of study randomisations, production of Reporting and Analysis Plans, performing statistical analyses using SAS, interpreting statistical results and review/input into key study documents eg, clinical protocols, Data Management Plans, clinical study reports, etc. Early Phase studies present particular statistical challenges due to their complexity (often with multiple study parts), interim analyses, protocol changes and the urgent requirement from sponsors for their key results; you will be expected to be flexible and creative in your statistical skills.
The successful candidate will have a degree with a large statistical content (and ideally an MSc), a minimum of 12 months statistical experience in the clinical/pharmaceutical industry (or similar) and to able to demonstrate a strong interest in further developing their career as a clinical statistician. Hands on SAS programming experience is essential; a working knowledge of early phase statistical methodology, previous CRO work experience or knowledge of CDISC standards (such as ADaM and to a lesser extent, SDTM) would be an advantage. Dependent on your development, our career pathway allows you to expand your statistical role over time and progress to more senior roles and tasks. Training will be provided to help your further your statistical skills and achieve a Lead role for statistical tasks within Data Sciences projects teams.
Candidates with greater clinical statistical experience will be considered for a more senior role. For experienced candidates with over 3-4 years’ experience, you will also take on a Lead study role for Statistical tasks and become involved in staff training/mentoring and hold study/programme design discussions including sponsor contact.
In addition, you should have good organisational and presentation skills and be able to work to deadlines whilst maintaining quality standards. Attention to detail and the ability to multitask are essential. Effective oral and written communication skills are also required as you will, in time, be a primary statistical point of contact with clients, regulators and clinical staff. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
The role can be based in our Edinburgh or Nottingham offices (with some home working) or can be fully home based with occasional trips to an office. This is a full-time position or can be part-time (equivalent hours for 4 or 4.5 days a week).
