Based from either Malvern or Farnborough, we are looking to appoint a Data Scientist with specialism in Natural Language Processing to join a team of Data Scientists and Data Engineers who use techniques from Statistics, Computer Science and Engineering, and work closely with Human Sciences specialists, to derive meaningful information from complex data. The team are working on a number of cutting edge, technically challenging projects in the areas of AI, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision and Tracking for Security, Defence and Commercial customers.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting tasks on a variety of projects involving extraction, cleansing, association, modelling, inference and visualisation of both structured and unstructured data.
  • Looking for opportunities to further improve our NLP offerings and solutions.
  • Designing new tools and software components/services.
  • Influencing colleagues and customers in a high-paced, leading-edge technology environment.
  • Keeping up with state of the art technologies and working practices within a broad and high profile technical area.
Technologies we use:
  • Languages include: Python, Java, Matlab, SQL, C++, JavaScript, and Bash.
  • Operating systems include: Linux (various flavours) and Windows.
  • Libraries include: SpaCy, NLTK, Gensim, Stanford CoreNLP, USE, BERT, NumPy, Matplotlib, Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Keras, SciPy, Hugging Face.
  • Cloud environments include: AWS, Azure.
  • • Tools include: Git, Jupyter, and Anaconda.
The Fit:
We are Interested in speaking with highly proficient NLP Analysts, with a track record of delivery experience, looking to further their career within Data Science. You will have knowledge and experience in using traditional NLP techniques as well as text and language embeddings and you will be expected to keep up with the state of the art in NLP techniques. You will be able to apply your relevant experience working on data-intensive projects to the work we undertake. You will have the curiosity to work in a variety of domains, with a variety of technology stacks including different programming languages. Your ability to communicate openly, think creatively, collaborate, and influence a range of stakeholders will enable you to drive delivery and solve technically challenging problems.

You will also have experienced and knowledgeable in some aspects of the engineering of Data analytics systems, including some of the open-source and branded tools and languages commonly used.

The successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledgeable in Natural Language Processing, and in some aspects of at least one of the following:

  • Machine Learning
  • Data science
  • Tracking
Due to the natyure of the work, candidates must bne eligible for high level security clearance. Full time/part time or flexible working arrangements will be considered for the right candidate. Working from home is possible for some days each week (subject to discussion). Off-site working at Customer sites may be required.
