Role purpose:

At Syngenta, we are working to build the most collaborative and trusted team in agriculture that provides leading seeds and crop protection innovations to enhance the prosperity of farmers. To support this challenge, we are currently seeking a Data Analytics Developer in the UK.

The Role Holder will be accountable for the development and service provision of Data and Models enabling Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, Prototyping data solutions and Data products to all Syngenta PT&E business functions.

Accountabilities:

  • Independent, development and provision of Data and Data Models supporting Executive and Operational Function-level Business Intelligence dashboards and scorecards.
  • Development and provision of Advanced Analytical Models supporting the PT&E community
  • Development and provision of RPA data automation procedures enabling operational efficiency and excellence
  • Development and optimization of Syngenta PT&E Business Intelligence and Analytical logical and Physical data models, ensuring that all dependencies with IT and source data systems are managed through effective collaboration with IT and alignment to IT strategy and objectives
  • Proactively engage with the community in PT&E to fully understand the breadth of science, the nature of the data, and the challenges that exist
  • Work with users to identify opportunities to improve the productivity of data handling and undertake process analysis to identify the root causes and potential solutions
  • Actively engage with the Continuous Improvement (Ops) team in PT&E, learning and using tools in day-to-day activities and identifying aspects of quick-win projects that would benefit from data support expertise
  • Keep up to date with developments, both internal and external, in scientific computing tools and best practices for data management by joining internal networks and following relevant literature

Knowledge & Experiences:

  • Formal training and/or a qualification in a Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or Computer Science discipline (degree or equivalent i.e. MSc / Ph.D.) plus a minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in similar or related roles
  • Knowledge and practical experience of Operational Excellence/LEAN Six Sigma
  • A broad understanding of science within the function: PT&E Chemistry, Biology or Engineering
  • Have the ability to maintain organizational awareness of PT&E and CP R&D IT function
  • Expert and demonstrable experience of SQL, VBA, R/Python, and awareness of other standard technologies used in scientific computing
  • Experience and understanding of basic statistical analysis principles and techniques
  • Experience of analytical science and associated data integration

  • Process analysis: An ability to understand problems outlined by colleagues, extract the process they undertake from inputs (raw data, identifiers, etc.) to required outputs & what happens at each step.
