Investment Data Engineer

The main purpose of this role is to enable and protect the growth of our Investment Proposition through data and technology. As an Investment Data Engineer, you will be supporting the extensive and evolving use of data across the division; leading on technology projects to identify and build pipelines to integrate data sets. You will also be inputting into data models to transform the raw data into curated datasets which are meaningful to stakeholders and support the divisions needs with specialist technology/data solutions, all in order to provide the best investment outcomes for our Partners & Clients

.What you'll be doing:

  • Actively drive forward data pipelining, modelling & transformation activities in support of developing a divisional investment data hub.
  • Automate and support the streamlining of processes through a variety of methodologies
  • Work with suppliers to optimise data usage across the division, including 3rd party data
  • Push forwards the Division’s analytical capabilities through the use of powerful data science tools
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to improve data governance, automation and operational efficiency
  • Liaise with internal & external stakeholders, understanding their business requirements & interpreting them from a technical standpoint; identifying how to deliver the required change and managing this delivery.
  • Querying data from a range of sources/systems and producing meaningful analysis/MI
  • Providing input/specialist knowledge to project teams about the existing investment data estate and systems, data feeds, sources and onward processing, as well as the structure of the data.

Who we're looking for:

  • Strong background in SQL, Python or R
  • Exposure to data pipe-lining, ETL development & data science concepts
  • Familiarity with data modelling techniques & working with both structured & unstructured data sources
  • Knowledge of DV2 methodology would be beneficial
  • Capable user of PowerBI or other visualization too sets
  • Understanding of Agile software development principles
  • Awareness of cloud computing platforms, and associated benefits/capabilities a plus
  • A background in investment concepts & theory
  • Experience in Investment analytics systems ie Bloomberg, FactSet, Refinitiv, Aladdin beneficial
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
