At Virgin Media, we think of data as our lifeblood, and the CIO Data Management team are responsible for pumping that blood around our business. As a Cloud DevOps Engineer Apprentice, you’ll be on the ground, learning with lots of support from internal senior employees who will ensure you take as much away as possible from the scheme.

Build skills for the future

Working with the team, you will be responsible for bringing data from operational systems together, modelling it and putting it into different systems where the wider business can use it to report on progress and even becoming the starting point for future solutions. Without DevOps, our systems could go down, which means customers can’t buy, agents can’t answer calls, and we won’t have any diagnostics – all of which affect the business greatly. Other responsibilities you will take on could include:

Analysing datasets to understand the relationship between them and how they can be used in reports

Aiding in the build of monitoring tools and dashboards to track infrastructure and application performance

Collaborating with wider teams to improve the integration and release process

Develop, maintain and optimise our CI/CD pipelines using industry standard technologies

What we look for

We work with data day in, day out so you need to become comfortable with numbers. Often, we come up against problems that need to be resolved quickly so if you enjoy solving problems, this could be the role for you. Other qualities that will help candidates succeed in this role include:
