Incard’s mission is to build the financial operating system for entrepreneurs.
We are focused on creating a system where business banking, financial tools, and application logic are coordinated into a single control layer.
Through the app store, entrepreneurs and developers can build industry-specific functionality as their business evolves.
Our team is small, highly motivated, and focused on engineering excellence. We operate with a flat organizational structure. All employees are expected to be hands-on and to contribute directly to the company’s mission. Leadership is given to those who show initiative and consistently deliver excellence. All engineers are expected to have strong communication skills. They should be able to concisely and accurately share knowledge with their teammates.
We’re looking for a Lead Infrastructure / DevOps Engineer to own and scale Incard’s cloud, security, and reliability foundations.
You’ll lead the infrastructure that powers payments, cards, analytics, and AI — including AWS & GCP environments, Kubernetes clusters, release pipelines, PCI vaults, and card infrastructure. This is a mission-critical role where uptime, security, and compliance are non-negotiable.
This role is ideal for an infra engineer who wants real ownership — designing systems, leading execution, and building infrastructure that can safely operate a regulated financial platform at scale.
Act as the technical owner for Incard’s cloud and platform infrastructure
Design and operate scalable environments across AWS and GCP
Own infrastructure boundaries for payments, cards, analytics, and AI systems
Architect and operate Kubernetes clusters for production workloads
Design highly available, secure, and scalable cloud architectures
Manage networking, secrets, access controls, and environment isolation
Own CI/CD and release pipelines across backend, frontend, and mobile
Improve deployment velocity while maintaining safety and rollback guarantees
Partner with engineering teams to improve developer experience and reliability
Design and operate PCI-compliant vaults and PAN storage
Secure card management and payment infrastructure
Partner with security, compliance, and external auditors to meet regulatory requirements
Own monitoring, logging, and alerting using Datadog, Grafana, and Sentry
Define SLIs/SLOs and incident response processes
Lead incident management, post-mortems, and reliability improvements
Operate and scale Redis and self-managed databases
Ensure data durability, backups, disaster recovery, and performance
Design for failure: redundancy, recovery, and graceful degradation
Lead and manage a small infrastructure squad (up to 5 engineers, as we scale)
Own tickets, delivery, and infrastructure code quality
Run stand-ups and drive execution within your team
While priorities are shaped with the CTO and Product, you own day-to-day execution and delivery
5-7+ years of experience in Infrastructure, DevOps, or Platform Engineering
Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes, AWS, and Google Cloud
Experience designing and operating secure, regulated production systems
Proven experience managing CI/CD pipelines and release workflows
Strong background in observability, monitoring, and incident response
Experience managing Redis, self-hosted databases, and stateful systems
Clear communicator who can align engineering, security, and leadership
Experience working in fintech, payments, or PCI-regulated environments
Experience securing card infrastructure and sensitive data (PANs, secrets)
Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi, etc.)
Experience scaling systems from early-stage to high-growth
Owner mentality — you treat infrastructure as a core product
Obsession with reliability, security, and operational excellence
Pragmatic engineer — strong opinions, loosely held
Calm and structured during incidents and outages
Low ego, high standards, and strong collaboration instincts
Startup DNA — bias to action, accountability, no bureaucracy
This role is based in our London office near Covent Garden, overlooking the River Thames and surrounding green space. We work primarily from the office, with flexibility when needed. Occasional evening meetings are required to collaborate with teammates in other time zones.
