To lead the development and implementation of Water Plus’s enterprise-wide data governance framework, ensuring data is accurate , secure, accessible, and used responsibly across the organisation. This role will drive the strategic agenda for data ownership, quality, and compliance, enabling trusted insights and supporting business transformation.
You will act as a senior advocate for data integrity, embedding governance principles into operational processes, technology platforms, and cultural behaviours. The role is pivotal in ensuring Water Plus meets regulatory obligations while unlocking the value of its data assets.
Key responsibilities
- Define and deliver the data governance strategy in alignment with Water Plus’s transformation roadmap.
- Establish and lead the Data Governance Board, ensuring cross-functional representation and accountability.
- Develop and maintain enterprise-wide policies, standards, framework and controls for data management.
- Influence investment decisions and transformation programmes to embed governance by design.
- Implement data ownership models and stewardship practices across business domains.
- Oversee data quality initiatives, including profiling, monitoring, and remediation.
- Ensure compliance with GDPR, data protection, and other relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with IT, Legal, Risk, and Audit to manage data-related risks and incidents.
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders to promote data governance as a business enabler.
- Provide expert advice and training to teams on data responsibilities and best practices.
- Translate complex governance concepts into actionable guidance for operational teams.
- Represent Water Plus in external forums and regulatory engagements where appropriate.
- Lead and develop a small team of data governance professionals.
- Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Champion data literacy and ethical data use across the organisation.
DataQualifications
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP); or
- Certified Information Management Professional (CIMP); or
- Certified Data Professional (CDP)
